Yes, 220 ABY is the standard. In fact, in the Unity sims now we have a notecard station that gives you the info on that timeline (to help the newbies ).

We have a forum for Galactic Unity, but only for the DCS specifics. The rest of the forum type stuff, we go here for (I put a link up to this forum ). The Galactic Unity Site is more for information, character profiles, role play reports, etc.

I'll bring this up to Xozy. I know he is working on a new set-up . BTW, best way to get Xozy's attention is to make a post on the DCS page on the unity website http://galacticunity.wikidot.com/.

Thank you so much. Well, those videos are made by a whole body of people. I can't do those things on my own. As for the blog, that will still be there, though not used as much. Probably will be phased out so that we have it all on one website. That is replaced by the Star Wars Weekly on the new website. Basically, it reads like a newspaper, but gives you role play info. The great thing about the new site, is that it is a wiki...so anyone that joins the site can contribute pages . In fact, if anyone every has cool role play events that have happened, give me a notecard and I'll put it up as a story on the Star Wars Weekly section.

                                      I've made some changes,
- added saber deflection. It has a chance of failure, but according the tests we made, a static gunner and a static saber swinger deflecting the bullets are about to kill each others.
- support for saber destructibles. You can get a copy of the training pole and make your own saber training device, or a destructible door, etc.
- added a screen fading effect when falling unconsious in RP mode. We had a die-in party during this update.
- lowered the chances of bullet hit when the gunner is running or flying. I'm not sure it will stay as is. An idea is to mitigate the "run backward shooting on the follower" tactic. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't believe it's possible even in a far away galaxy. Pehaps I'll just make them... fall on the ground.

Well the title was "If *I* had a sim" so in that respect I can't fault anything you said becuase it's what you would do, not others.

As Dirjha says about the timeline, I like to leave it open like that and I normally avoid the question of "What date is it" in my sims like the plague.
Best to set any sw sim in the future after all known events and let it flow, unless you really want to do something very specific like the death star idea, but as said you will have issues with a restraint on such a time frame interacting with others.

p.s I will let you off not including Korriban *waves fist* this time

Personally we at JGP find that often newbies are some of the people with the best potential.

Starting with a blank canvas, if they are properly selected from the ones who really aren't serious or have 2 second attention spans, the ones with potential can often be trained well over a period of months and turn into great roleplayers and great Jedi. They remain keen and interested, they stick with the group because it becomes home to them and it helps build a community feel on Ossus. We've noticed over the couple of years that we've been about that most of the "successful" Jedi we've had have been newbies or relative newbies when they joined the group, as opposed to people who either have been in SL a long time then try SWRP for the first time, or have drifted around various SWRP groups and factions. Not a hard and fast rule by any means, and we don't necessarily turn away those others, but it's something we've noticed as an overall trend.

A funny story was that as a total star wars noob i was actually banned by the admins on the original Korriban. I had just finished making my first star wars thing (it was the twi'lek lekkusystem) and was looking for areas to take pictures. I had a really awful lightsaber (i think that awful "luke redid" one) and was walking around with it lit (I dont' think i knew how to turn it off). And I was taking screenshots of myself with the lekku. Needless to say they got mad at me for walking around their sim with a lit lightsaber.. and I'm sure I thought they were being overly huffy, which got me booted in a hurry I ended up taking my box art pictures elsewhere.. and never did try going back later.

LOL! I also visited Korriban a few times, but as a quite young Jedi Padawan at the time, I did it more discretely, sneaking around so that the Sith didn't know. Sometimes I got close enough to Darth Padar and others that had I been competent enough, I could have had a pop at them, but it would have been suicide, and I was a clever lil' padawan
*Hopes his old Master's Force spirit is not reading this conversation as he did not know of those clandestine visits*
